Final Thoughts

Even though the semester is ending, I feel like my research is far from over. Over the course of this project, I vastly expanded my knowledge of the Baltimore Colts and their departure from Baltimore through watching video clips, reading books, reading newspaper articles, looking at photos, and interviewing people. I have learned the reasons behind why the Colts left Baltimore and the fans' reactions after the departure.
Though I felt Irsay was wrong in the way he moved the Colts to Indianapolis, I do not think the actual move of the team should be a cause of hatred. I understand why Irsay wanted to move his team, due in part to the desire for a better stadium and lacking ticket sales as a result, and I do not fault him for wanting to move the team, though it could have been done in a better manner. I also understand the betrayal and sadness that Baltimoreans felt at the removal of the team. However, I still do not understand why people today hate a franchise because of one man and his decisions.

Overall, I learned a lot of information through my research and I will retain this information. I plan to continue my personal research of the Baltimore Colts and their departure from Baltimore.
